Book that has me in a delightful state: Notes From a Blue Bike, by Tsh Oxenreider.
And the rain showers this weekend that leave the world in a pleasant state. The trees are leaving. Our garden is growing with hardly any effort on our part (which is good, because we definitely squooshed our watering hose with the car), flowers are blooming, and I have rotten allergies but it's okay because the world is so darn beautiful.
Also, Volume 4, Episode 2 of Chef's Table.

I was putting on my shoes in the soft mid-day light that comes with intermittent rain showers. The birds are chirping outside and other than that, it's just quiet. A delightful, listen-to-yourself-breathing-peacefully quiet. The little sounds of putting the shoe on the floor, sliding a socked foot against canvas, carefully pulling the laces into place. The satisfied motion of pulling my jeans back over my shoes once they're on.
The pastry chef on the Chef's Table episode I mentioned said - "I don't have any ambition." But it wasn't a bad thing! Also, he's not really telling the truth, he just doesn't have ambition like we picture it - he doesn't want to build a pastry empire. He wants to make good food in his hometown and love his family and love his simple work.
e bella.
